The Gift of Jaywalking

Sometimes Anchorage can feel really small. I've lived here for 23 years, so I've pretty much seen all there is to see. But every once in awhile, I get a glimpse of something totally different.

I was crossing 5th avenue the other day and since there was no traffic at the moment, I stopped in the middle of the street and looked towards the mountains. It felt exhilarating, taboo, and somewhat dangerous to be standing in the middle of the street taking pictures. It was exciting and awesome and that's what I love about the "Photo of the Day" project-- it allows me to see my world in a different way.
